Wild water varen

Based on the Great Usuthu River and using inflatable 2-man “croc” rafts, this is the trill you’ve been waiting for. Suitable for beginners as well as confirmed adrenaline junkies, Swazi Trails professional river guides will tailor the route to see you safely to the end of this adventure outing. Graded four, on a rising scale of difficulty from one to six.

yes – you will get wet no – you don’t need to be a swimmer no – you don’t need any prior experience yes – there are plenty of rapids yes – you do have the option to walk big rapids no – we portage around the waterfall yes – there are crocodiles on the Great Usuthu no – they haven’t eaten anyone recently yes – it is safer than smoking or driving through Jo’burg no – there’s only you and your partner to blame for flipping yes – you do have to paddle your own raft no – this is Africa, it doesn’t get cold yes – they are occasionally referred to as divorce boats no – there aren’t automatic bank-tellers near the river yes – river guides are polite, shy and well behaved young men yes – the beers will be cold at the end yes – you can buy a T-shirt

Participants are warned that this is an active and participative pursuit and that considerable effort and physical activity is to be expected both on and off the river. All necessary equipment, helmets, life jackets and refreshments are provided. Bring a change of clothes and a jacket for afterwards, tie on footwear, hat, suncream and plenty of laughter – that’s all.
