Experience the majestic clash of waters where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet here in Cape Agulhas the most southern tip of Africa. Wild animals were the trail blazers of Sir Lowry’s pass. This pass was opened in 1830 and is 402m above sea level. The original pass was used extensively by the Khoi-Khoi nomads and San hunters. The breathtaking Hottentots Holland mountains are a gateway to the interior of the country and was so named by the Dutch colonist when they encountered the indigenous Khoi-Khoi clans in this basin. Visit the fishing village of Arniston / Waenhuiskrans.

Hermanus, the popular seaside village is well known for its land based whale watching. Whales can be sighted between June and December. Calving takes place in August and September and the males arrive for mating in October when the whale population peeks. Enjoy the best land based whale watching in Hermanus and along the False Bay coast.

 

Enjoy a spectacular drive back along the scenic Betty’s Bay and Kleinmond on Clarens Drive.

Optional visit to the Stony Point Penguin Colony- a land based colony where you can see the endangered African penguin. Visit the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens for indigenous Cape flora.
