Brief itinerary

Start at either Gabarone or Johannesburg and travel into the vast plains of the Kalahari. Make a one-night pit stop in the dusty town of Kang before carrying on to Ghanzi. Here we have several different accommodations where you can relax and get in touch with the real Kalahari. Depending on your budget and what is available there are various activities in the area. For example, you can do some game viewing or go for a walk with Bushman. After a relaxed start from Ghanzi, the route takes you to one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world. Arriving in Maun, you stay one night and leave the next morning early to either fly into the Okavango Delta with a private charter plane or drive in with your own private driver guide to a Mokoro station. Flying in takes you straight to a luxury lodge of choice where you can relax and enjoy the wonderful nature of a wet desert! As a rule, every two people have their own private guide to help them explore. Driving in you have to transfer into a Mokoro (canoe) which takes you to a lovely spot in the Moremi reserve. Here camp will be set up for the next two or more nights and you can explore the surrounding area by foot or Mokoro with your own private guide.

The route now takes you via the Caprivi Strip in Namibia to Chobe National Park. En route, you will overnight at the beginning of the Okavango Delta panhandle before driving the next day through the Caprivi Strip. (If you do not wish to leave Botswana, it is possible to travel via Nata to Chobe). Your next accommodation is just outside either Kasane or Chobe National Park. Included in the price are game safaris by land and river into the Chobe National Park (incl. entry fees) and a day trip (via Zimbabwe) to the Vic Falls (excluding border costs and entry fees).

From Chobe or Kasane you set of to the next destination in either Nata or Gweta. From here, it is possible to make an excursion into the Makgadigadi pans National Park (only possible in the dry season). Finally, you travel back to the point you started from and return home or go on the next part of your holiday. To book an extension to this holiday you will find instructions on the request for a cost estimate or price indication form.

Recommended duration and getting there: These trips are offered at a minimum amount of travel days suitable for the route and may be extended or reversed. (see our recommendation or contact us for information). When requesting a price indication or quote we need to know the port, date and time of arrival and departure. Should you not have booked your flights yet we require the expected arrival and departure details of when you wish to travel. Please note travel to Botswana should be booked well in advance!

All cost estimates or price indications are on average accurate to +/- 1,5% of actual price, and are based on prices for services required in the period you wish to travel. Included in our price indication you also get an overview of extra-expected costs you will encounter whilst travelling like entrance fees, fuel, eating out etc. Prices for quotes are always based on provisionally made bookings and are therefore valid for a limited time only. Any quote or price estimate is for free and without any obligation whatsoever.

Price variations: Due to the options of starting the journey in either Johannesburg or Gaborone, prices will differ. When starting in Gaborone the first night can be taken out of the route thus making it a slightly shorter duration and less expensive in accommodation costs. Starting in Johannesburg is cheaper as rental cars (from South Africa) and flight costs make a big difference to the price. The last factor influencing the price is the variations of accommodation packages in Chobe but especially in the Okavango Delta. As a final option, it is also possible for all routes in Botswana to start in Windhoek, Namibia.

What is icluded in our price and what may you expect for your money?

Accommodation: we generally use the small scale more personally run establishments like bed & breakfasts, guesthouses, small lodges, guest farms and some boutique hotels. We also have a limited selection of the smaller and better 5 star establishments but generally work with 3 to 4 star accommodations. Due to the low population, density and relative large size good accommodation in Botswana is limited. Except for the smaller more personally run establishments we also offer a number of larger accommodations. A rustic and tranquil setting or charming country style building with lots of character and welcoming staff enjoys our preference above large organisations. In any cost estimate or price indication, we will give you an itinerary based on place name or national park visited. This is because we are mostly working with small-scale accommodations and can only offer specific accommodations once we have finalised your itinerary and you are satisfied with our price indication. Once this is, done we will provisionally book all accommodations (and other services) then offer you a quote that will be valid for a limited time only. Any price estimate/price indication or quote is for free and without any obligation whatsoever. Finally yet importantly good value for your money is important.

Our prices are as fully comprehensive as is possible checked regularly on exchange rate variations. Except for the accommodation and vehicle rental or transport including driver guide we include wherever possible and/or applicable local taxes, airport shuttles etc. See below for more information on what is included.

CAR RENTAL(recommended from South Africa)
Usually included in our car rental are the following
• Unlimited kilometers.
• Airport collection costs.

• TP-Insurance(theft of vehicle).

Should you be picked up by our shuttle we will arrange for your rental vehicle/s to be delivered to your accommodation at a pre determined time. Cost for this service are payable locally only and vary (average at € 20,- per vehicle). For border crossing travel you will require extra documentation from the rental company. We will arrange for these documents to be ready at the collection or drop off point but the costs for these services can only be paid locally by credit card.
